Version v0.7.8

Faster 3D painting and cleaner canvas controls

You can now paint to 3D much faster, with ortho view extraction and paint-to-model steps finishing in a fraction of the time. The canvas is also easier to read, with cleaner node controls and a clearer aspect ratio choice in Derive Image. Codex and Grok now use the CLI you already installed, so setup is lighter and the connectors follow the version you have on your machine.

What’s new

  1. Paint to 3D finishes much faster

Extracting views and painting them onto a model now completes in seconds instead of much longer waits. If you work with ortho views or bake textures often, the whole loop feels much quicker.

  2. Use your own Codex and Grok installs

Codex and Grok now run the command-line tool you already installed, instead of Artyx shipping its own copy. That makes setup lighter, keeps the connector in step with the version from the provider, and makes missing or outdated installs much clearer.

  3. Cleaner controls on the canvas

The `+` port now only appears where you need it, and it stays readable when you zoom out. View controls also live in the node footer now, so they no longer cover the image while you work.

  4. Pick the right image ratio

Derive Image now gives you an aspect ratio selector that follows the model you picked, and you can override it when you want a different shape. Your choice stays put when you close the panel and come back.

  5. More reliable chat and connector behavior

Grok and Codex fixes make the connectors behave more consistently across Windows, Finder, and desktop launches. Chat images also survive a reload now, and usage warnings appear before you hit the limit.

In the app

Where to find it

  1. 01

Open the canvas and select a 3D object node.

You should see the view badge and the Paint on 3D control in the node footer.

  2. 02

Click Paint on 3D to start the bake.

The ortho view and paint-to-model steps should complete much faster than before.

  3. 03

Open Derive Image from the image node.

Use the aspect ratio selector to match the model, or choose a different ratio if needed.

  4. 04

Open the connector card for Codex or Grok.

If the CLI is missing or outdated, Artyx now shows what to install and the command to update it.
